A word from Lucy...

Dogs and Chocolate

With Easter just gone it's likely you'll have Easter eggs in the house. Chocolate and dogs don't mix at all however, and here's why:.
1)Chocolate contains theobromine, a chemical which is very poisonous to dogs. We struggle to digest it meaning it stays in our systems and builds up over time. Too much could kill us, so if we do consume chocolate by accident please seek advice from a vet straight away.
2)Even if we're not immediately poisoned from eating chocolate it could still cause us an upset stomach. Not at all nice for us or your carpets.
3)We only need small amounts of chocolate to cause us problems. The actual amount depends on the size of the breed and the type and quality of chocolate
4)If you must feed us a chocolate treat you can buy special dog treats, though these too are not good for us on a regular basis. We don't want to get fat!.
5)To prevent us getting hold of chocolate in the first place hide the eggs where we can't get at them! Just like humans we are tempted by the smell!.

Ever wondered...

What your dog is thinking? Why he looks like he's understanding you one minute then looks blankly at you the next? Have you ever wondered why dogs like to roll in smelly things or what they actually say to the postman when they bark at him?
Well thank goodness you've found my website! No longer do you have to wonder... just ask me!

Sadly the last forum is down and the next forum is a work in progress so you'll have to make do with the blog link on the left of this page for now. The moment the new board is up though I'll be sure to let you know and we can chat.

HANDY PAWZ
Benji can be found over at Double Trouble where he offers you all the DIY tips you'll ever need. Benji founded Handy Pawz DIY Services in 2009 after answering Mum's plea for DIY help. He tells me he's very good with a hammer!

Pet Product of the month:
I just love the idea of a beef flavoured non alcoholic dog beer in the garden come sumer time. What a find!

What to teach your dog this month:

Training should be your focus if your dogs aren't 100% up to scratch, especially with summer on the way and the opportunity for lots of walks and outings! Check out the video links. I promise you they are sooo informative!

Pets in the news:

Trained by a cat? Some seem to think this is the way to go. Personally I don't think so!

Chat Magazine featured Alfies lost dogs a while back. If you lose your dog or find one, check here. You might reunite a very grateful puppy with it's Mum!

For pet friendly holidays look no further...
